Liveable Cities: 1. Stockholm 2. Melbourne 3. Tokyo 4. Vancouver 5. Singapore Characteristics: 1. Peace and Order 2. High citizen involvement 3. High government support for its citizen 4. Clean and environmentally friendly 5. Strong economic growth In my city, these five characteristics are severely lacking. 1. Peace and Order: there is a high crime rate. What makes it worse, the people in power are easily bribed and may not always be trusted. The people in power must have discipline and set an example for the people. 2. Citizen involvement: Stronger citizen involvement will allow for better localized plans to improve the city. 3. Government support: most of those in power intends to line their pockets and their allies'. Graft and corruption is very rampant. If the government starts to actually put the citizens first, laws and policies would align with the needs of the people. 4. Clean and environmentally friendly: there has been a recent boost in the advocacy of greener cities which will lead to a healthier environment. 5. Economic growth: in the recent years, inflation rates have been increasing. Investing in the economy to make it stronger will motivate the citizen with good standard of living.
