United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi
FC-01x Future Cities (Self-Paced) - Exercise 3: "Factors of Livability"
Uploaded on 2019-01-01 by Jose Sibi
Based on my personal living experiences, I would rate the cities of Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Ahmedabad as the top 3 cities that I have lived in. I cannot state the other 2 cities because i simply have not lived in any other city that I would deem as a liveable city. Characteristics that make a city liveable other than the basic necessities such as electricity and water would be : 1) Public transportation 2) Green spaces 3) Easy mobility 4) Job security 5) Low pollution. The city that I am currently residing is the beautiful capital of the United Arab Emirates which has a well set up and cheap public transportation, man-made green spaces (even though it is a desert) all across the city, easy and multiple connectivity due to its grid-plan system, job security due to the oil business and no tax on any income (even though a 5% vat was introduced in 2018) and very very less pollution. I really can't find any other criteria that this city would have to fulfill to deem it as 'more' liveable. But to make it more sustainable maybe the city could introduce the concept of carpooling.
