FC-01x Future Cities (Self-Paced) - Exercise 1 : "Making the Invisible - Visible"
Uploaded on 2018-12-24 by Ticiana Ponte
Visible Info:The photo shows a crossroad of the city. The streets are empty, we can see the segregated narrow pedestrian sidewalks and a bicycle path shared with the automobile street. Cars and bikes are sharing the same space because our streets were planned just for cars, causing a great conflict of uses. In this junction, the constructions and buildings are not as high as in the background, near the beach side. The construction density in clearly lower in this spot, contrasting with the higher density on background. Invisible info:1)It is important to get the information of how many people passes that crossroad, how different modals uses the street. Information about accidents, and conflict problems. 2) Why density is so different in this junction. It is because people prefer to live near the sea?Data about the real estate market, for example.Knowledge:In our city this is already happening in mobility. We have a municipal institution that monitors, mine, store, etc. data from sensors all over the city. Gathering and working with this data they are able to build up information that is helping to achieve better mobility, inclusion of active transportation (bike and pedestrian), and reduce public spaces uses conflicts.
