Porto Alegre Airport was awarded to the privately held auctioned in March 2017. The winner of the process was the concessionaire Fraport AG Frankfurt Airport Services, which from January 2018 onwards will operate the airport for the next 25 years. Porto Alegre Airport is the eighth busiest in Brazil in terms of number of passengers transported (7,400,000 / year). It represents an important hub for the movement of people and goods in the southern region of Brazil.
