Livable Cities:Salt Lake City,Utah;San Diego,California;Lincoln,New Hampshire;New Orleans,Louisiana;Bar Harbor,Maine Livability Characteristics:Air Quality,Enough jobs and good schools,Proficient energy usage,Affordable housing,Profuse resources Philadelphia, Pennsylvania needs to improve its air quality, exhaust is released into the air, creating smog. It is unhealthy for the citizens to breath in this air. Jobs need to be created for all and not just for the educated. Schools need to be available for the homeless. To get into a public school, a home address needs to be provided. Many don’t have homes, leaving them stuck in the uneducated cycle of poverty. Philadelphia needs to find renewable ways to store and create energy such as the use of wind turbines or hydropower. Using these types of energy create a clean city. Affordable CLEAN housing should be provided to low income families to keep them off the streets and give them the ability to find jobs and go to school. Philadelphia has this, but they need more. Philadelphia should be using its natural resources to build instead of importing. Supporting its own economy is important especially in sustaining it. Sustainability in a city begins with the health of its people. By improving these five characteristics, people will be living better.
