Where is the impact of our dependence on electricity more obvious than a photograph of a city at night. The attached photo shows Melb in November 2018, the city buildings in the background show the lights of office workers or maybe just cleaners - but essential nevertheless. Some tower lighting is for aviation and some is purely cosmetic. The building illuminated in red in the foreground is the Shrine of Remembrance. It is a memorial for Australian soldiers in WW1 and is illuminated in red to remember the centenary of that war. So the electricity in that case to help commemorate.
