FC-01x Future Cities (Self-Paced) - Exercise 1 : "Making the Invisible - Visible"
Uploaded on 2018-11-18 by Katarina Cimbaljevic
As for the visible information that we can gather from this photo, we can see the morphology of the building, the way it is positioned and how it is organized. We can see the greenery and the street lights. We can gather some spatial, visible information that are the main characteristics of this specific area. As for the invisible, on the other hand, we can notice the way the workers are spending their break. In this area, during work-time, because there is no suitable urban furniture (such as benches), the workers need to go behind the building to have their break, smoke cigarettes and drink coffee. This situation can tell us a lot about what is necessary in this neighborhood. Also, because of the street light, this serves as a good break-time place during the evenings , as well. The other invisible information we can gather is the inaccessibility of the staircase they are sitting on. The ramp and the small staircase lead to nowhere, to the door that is not used, which can tell us information about the lack of usage of this area, which can be improved.
