In this picture we see a building designed by pritzker Architect Álvaro Siza. This building is a factory for the Vitra design company and is mainly built with bricks. However the interesting fact here is the base of the wall. It is made of granite that came all the way from a Portuguese quarry. It is not even a disponilility problem that led to this solution, but a simple design desire by the architect. This shows not only how common this has become on occasions of lack of certain material, but also how globalisation made it a possible and easy choice.
