1. Average daily urban-rural temperature differences in US Cities: Las Vegas (4°C); Albuquerque (3.3°C); Denver (2.7°C); Portland (2.6°C); Louisville (2.6°C); Washington, D.C. (2.6°C); Kansas City (2.5°C); Columbus (2.4°C); Minneapolis (2.4°C); Seattle (2.2°C). 2. According to a study conducted by "Revista Brasileira de Meteorologia" in 2015, the city of Curitiba, overall, does not show significant levels of variation of temperature values between rural and urban areas, except for a few blocks with thermal inversions, due to heat islands, where differences occur up to 2.5°C. 3. Curitiba has nice urban parks but could increase the number of smaller (pocket) parks, and ocasional "green breathers" spaces in more dense urbanized areas. Also, provide more shade, with trees along its streets, specially in the buses corridors, where current parking spots could make room to trees, parklets and flowerbeds. 4. Parks as leisure and flood control - a program that reduced flood mitigation expenditures by promotion of park development in flood-prone areas. The cost of this strategy is estimated to be 5% lower than building concrete canals, created public parks and contributed to a more pleasant climate sensation in the urban environment.
