Uploaded on 2018-06-20 by Axel Eduardo Solares Ambrosio
The most livable I have been are: 1. Copenhagen 2. Helsinki 3. Singapore 4. Amsterdam 5. Weimar Main characteristics. 1. Compactness - A compact city is friendly for the the inhabitants. With high densities in many aspects and effective and efficient urban mobility, compact cities are a goal for urban planers. 2. Effective and efficient public transport - Multi-modal mobility and a TOD approach help in the creation of compact and sustainable cities. Independence of cars not only improves the life quality of people, but it also reflects on the environment, economy and society. 3. Mixed uses - Cities or communities with a high degree of mixed uses is more livable, walkable and enjoyable. Mixed uses promote compactness and urban security. 4. (Universal) Accessibility - Accessibility according to Todd Litman is the most important aspect while considering mobility and transportation. To be able to reach many destinations in a short period of time and in an easy way, is a synonym of accessibility. Of course we always have to think about people with special needs. 5. Public space and green areas - These elements are essential in a city. They make it more livable, enjoyable and inclusive.
