Five most livable cities in the US (from most to least): Portland, Seattle, Denver, Chicago, and Austin. The five characteristics these places have in common include: recycling, green space, low noise, public transportation options, and health-conscious cultures. Atlanta is a city in transformation, from a mid-size Southern city to a large, diverse metropolis. It is growing in population, densifying, and changing in every aspect (economically, politically, socially, culturally, aesthetically, etc.). It has an abundance of green space and, as a tree city, has relatively low levels of noise. It has city-wide recycling but could improve by offering glass recycling and compost options. It has a limited rail and bus system that was recently approved to be expanded. However, ridership has decreased over the years as faster alternatives, such as Uber and Lyft, has moved into the city. Lastly, as a Southern city, its culture and lifestyle is transforming from butter-fried food, suburban Mcmansions, and consumerist designs to something different.
