FC-02x Livable Future Cities ( Self- Paced) - Compulsory Exercise 1

Top five liveability criteria: 1) Environmental concerns 2) Housing 3) Infrastructure 4) Transport 5) Job opportunities I currently live in Chesterfield, UK because of the scope for job opportunities; recreationally, it is near the Peak District; reasonably priced Housing; ‘infrastructure requirements’ of a library etc. are met; public transportation is good. My livability ranking for Chesterfield out of 100 is: 75+60+65+75+75 / 5 = 70. I think a general livability score might be less = 65 perhaps, due to recreational constraints for young people and public transport limitations for outlying cities. As Mayor, I would improve social housing. There are a number of inner city brownfield sites in Chesterfield which could easily be converted into low-cost housing. This would improve environmental factors, as fewer greenfield sites would be used for new housing; it would also improve inner city derelict sites. I would move to: Amsterdam: excellent public transportation; international connectivity; culture; safety; political stability Copenhagen: job opportunities; infrastructure; safety; sanitation; environment San Francisco: job opportunities; infrastructure; economy; sanitation; recreational possibilities
