Answer part 2: 4. What would you change? The mayor of Auckland should provide more affordable houses, better public transport and solve some safety issues. Safety – Burglaries rate in Auckland is rising. In spite of all efforts safety remains a problem in some of the South districts. Housing – Considering house prices and average income, currently we can not talk for affordable houses in Auckland. There are still “leaky houses” i.e. houses without proper insulation. There are lots of ongoing projects for solving this problem and regulation changes addressing this problem have been made too. Transport- There is no underground high speed transport in Auckland. Bus and rail services are tolerable for closely located destinations but for long distances it takes unacceptable amount of time. In some districts the railway track is built very close to residential developments without any noise or dust shields. Traffic congestion and parking problems in the central zone can be solved with good public transport. 5. Why do we move?
