Attached you will see my trashcan app for mobile devices. It’s an App with a map which shows all the public trashcans in the city. A blue trashcan has a neutral, unknown status. The level of trash is indicated by colours: Green: The trashcan ist empty or nearly empty and has lots of room for trash Yellow: There is already a good amount of trash in the can, but it has still room for more trash Red: The trashcan is completely full or already overflowing with trash If a public citizen uses the app he can point on the can and then gets a selector to update the level of trash he observes. The garbage collector will see the level of trash in his control center and knows when to move out. Also the collectors already working in the field get the information on their mobile devices. When the can is emptied, it resets to blue.
