1. The study mentions a single-day urban temperature difference of 27°F and an average of 17.5°F for a maximum single-day temperature difference. 2. São Paulo is the biggest city in Brazil and UHI effect was analyzed, having an average of 18°F of temperature difference between urban and rural area. From the pictures attached, we can see that urban area has little vegetation compared to a vicinity area of São Paulo (reservoir of a dam). 3. In order to reduce the UHI effect, I'd propose to increase green areas with vertical plantation or rooftop gardens, as well as preserve vegetation in residential areas considering a minimum percentage of green area. 4. Currently, I'm not aware of any specific policy making in São Paulo city. The secretary of Environment has policies related to climate changes but not related directly to UHI effect. We can see more green areas in São Paulo city and preservation of parks, but UHI effect is not emphasized in those actions.
