On the picture you can see Zurich form the distance. The older part, at the same time the city centre, is unfortunately behind the tree in the middle. 1. On the left side you can find the former industrial area of Zurich. Today most industries moved further away and made place for newer construction. Here you can find the high-rise buildings like Prime-Tower, Mobimo Tower, Zölly and so on. Furthermore you can see on the picture the distribution of the settlements. Mostly the villages are around the lake and the Limmat (river), leaving the top of the hill free. The density of the city also chances with the distance to the centre. Whereas in the old part and Zurich-West (high-rise building area) the density is high, it decreases on both sides of the lake and on the left side. Moreover we can see the motorway (right side) and the main train lines coming from the city-centre. Further we can notice that Zurich is a very green city. A lot of forest area is still left and gives the city some more quality. 2. – Public Transport network: (train lines, tram lines,..) on the picture it is not clearly noticeable, but from the map. A high density of public transportation facilities is distributed in Zurich and makes all the areas accessible. -pictures by night / lights: the lights in the night tells us something new about the city. 3. In the last question I mentioned the public transportation system in Zurich. The public transportations like train, tram, bus play an important part in Zurich. We use it constantly and it brings us from place to place. There is also a connection between the density of the settlements and the public transportation system. With the reduction of the available public transportation stops, the density of the houses decreases. Often the age of the inhabitants changes as well. The public transportation network shows us also how popular a place is. The better they are connected to other places or the city centre, the more important and popular the area is. In order to successfully develop a new sustainable area in Zurich, we have to consider a good accessibility to the existing public transportation system. Zurich, Switzerland
