Which are the main UHI effects that you can identify in your area? a-The Use of Concrete and Asphalt abundantly in the city, knowing that dark surfaces absorb significantly more solar radiation b-Lack of Green Areas in the city center, meaning a lack of evapotranspiration c-The abundancy of tall buildings in the city center provide multiple surfaces for the reflection and absorption of sunlight and blocking the wind d-Heavy dependency on private transportation, meaning high numbers of cars on the roads, leading to High levels of pollution in urban areas which can also increase the UHI 3. Which are the measures you would propose? a-The use of lighter surface materials to avoid absorption of sun light taking into consideration their reflective characteristics which can lead to urban glare b-Promote green parks in the city which help to regulate the urban climate c-Spread awareness between construction stakeholders and define policies regarding urban design and planning in the city d-Promote public transportation and making it a better alternative for citizens 4. Is UHI effect concerning policy making in your area? Not really. Actually this city being located in the northern hemisphere haven't a serious problem of heat island effect.
