(I dont understand how you are supposed to upload more than one picture) 1. Which are your top livability criteria? 1. Education 2. Culture (se museump icture) 3. Political Stability 4. Housing 5. Health care I would say with reference to Maslow that you need to distinguish between lower and higher orders of livability. I have made a mix, but it goes without saying that basic sanitation and safety are fundamentals to a city. But having these are not enough to make a city livable but merely ensures that they are not unlivable. 2. Why do we live where we live? Aarhus: 1. I was born here (habit, familiarity) 2. Education 3. Museums and art 4. Rapid city development 5. Economy As I live in Denmark most of the basic stuff are well taken care off, so it has never crossed my mind to move because of bad sanitation, safety, health care etc. 3. To what extend does your own place of residence fulfill your ideal livability criteria? Aarhus fulfills my criteria to a certain degree, but does not excel in them. Education is good, culture is getting there (understood as the fine arts and museums), political stability is high (maybe to stable/boring), but housing is for me pretty good although overall housing can in periods be hectic. Health care is pretty high compared with many countries. We have a universal health care system excepts when it comes to psychologist and dentist with a high overall standard. My score: 78 Overall score: 85 4. What would you change? 1. Make public transportation systems cheap and sustainable. (We have a lot of old gasoline and diesel buses and trains) 2. Build more semi-public housing (due to lower rent and often higher quality) 3. Improve the citizens stake in politics and governance. Make it less dependent on commercial needs. Less catering to private interest. 5. Why do we move? Copenhagen: Have all the same qualities as Aarhus, but scores higher in them. Also, more exciting politics and better job opportunity. Reykjavik: This would be to go a totally different way. More calm and isolated. It would be to cater to a totally different set of needs. Nature, recreation, peace, safety but at the same time to have access to many of the qualities in a big city. (But tourism would make a huge negative impact) Berlin: History, culture, restaurants, city architecture
