I agree with the statement: 'almost every building contains components of a globalized economy'. As example I would like to tell about the Markthal in Rotterdam (the Netherlands). The inspiration for the design of this building has international origins. The building has an number of functions: market, living, food service, shops and parking. The building is design of Dutch architectural company MVRDV, which are working international. The inspiration for this building comes from markets in Stockholm and Valencia. The designer of the artwork inside the building (Arno Coenen) is inspired by paintings in Sistine Chapel in Vatican City. The name of the artwork inside the Markhal in Rotterdam is “Horn of Plenty” what is symbol of abundance and nourishment. The building has a glass facade on both sides. The facade consists of small windows, which forms an cable structure. This is the largest glass-window cable structure in Europe. The glass facade has been however designed and built by Dutch company Octatube.
