1. Which are your top livability criteria? k. Job Opportunities p. Transportation n. Safety e. Environment d. Education 2. Why do we live where we live? 1. Family 2. Education 3. Community 4. Housing 5. Transportation First of all I live in Frankfurt because thats where I was born and where my family is. Since I am only 18 years young, so far I just didn’t really have a choice on where to live. That said I really like to live in Frankfurt. First of all good education in Germany is easy to access and on top of that also free. Then I also have a lot of friends there and Frankfurt is an open place for people from all over the world. Also you can easily get around the city by public transport for instance. The only problem I see with that, is, that it is way to expensive. Because of that I have been using my bike to get around the past half year and that has work for me just fine. Frankfurt is a city that has beautiful housing areas (although very expensive) and there are many spots, such as parks, where you can relaxe and enjoy the view. 3. To what extend does your own place of residence fulfill your ideal livability criteria? Rating of my own place: Job Opportunities: 80 Transportation: 55 Safety: 100 Environment: 90 Education: 90 Score: 77 4. What would you change? I would definitely try to focus on two problems, the cost of housing and the cost of transportation. Both of these have been steadily going up in Frankfurt for years now and which of course affects the livability of Frankfurt immensely. I would try to create more living spaces with affordable and reasonable pricing as well as subsidise the public transport more, while also creating safer road conditions for bikers. 5. Why do we move? Right now I am in my gap year, so currently I am not even living in one place anymore. More just moving around. After this year I want to start studying, so of course my focus is set on that, education. So I just named my top three cities for me to study. In the end it will just depend on where I get the best place to study and I might not even move to the cities listed below. 1. Berlin The city has a lot to offer educational wise. There are many learning facilities and also good universities. The housing in Berlin is definitely more affordable than in my hometown. Transportation is also accessible, the city is just wider spread and it can take longer to get from one place to another. Also I like the environment in Berlin. You have many cute cafés and cool bars and other stuff to do there. Last of all safety is very important, but I never really had any problems with that in any European city. Of course you could take terrorism into account these days, but the chances are just so low and I also won’t let that affect my live so easily. 2. Amsterdam 3. Vienna
