This picture is taken from my balcony, within the residential area in the heart of the city. The visible information gathered :- 1) Number of residential buildings and depth of each building. 2) The intensity of harsh sunlight during afternoon hours. 3) Greenery provided to increase aesthetics within the area. 4) More vehicles are seen than people on the streets. Invisible information gathered :- 1) Most people prefer to stay indoors due to the harsh climate, and very few residents park their cars outdoors and prefer parking in the basement so that the cars interiors do not heat up and damage or cause wear and tear. 2) The Greenery is specifically in one area to give an aesthetic appeal , which means it is not common around the area or city. People cannot enjoy the given greenery due to harsh climate conditions. The city Dubai being in the Middle East, is mainly (on a broad scale) an oasis within a desert, hence the lack of greenery is self explanatory. This invisible information can be used to plan a more sustainable and less polluted city for the generations to come. Planting techniques such as green roofs and ground covers along with renewable resource techniques such as solar panels due to excessive supply of sunlight can be adopted. Planting more trees for shading purposes can give a major difference to those who want to enjoy the outdoor facilities. Although these techniques take time to launch and become conventional, it benefits the future residents and generations of this city.
