1)As you can see from the Sankey Diagram of Cyprus, the dominant fossil fuels that are used are the oil products. 2)Oil Products are mainly used for Transportation with 586 thousand of tones of oil equivalent. 3)Unfortunately, in Cyprus the number of cars is huge, since each house has 4 cars in average to use. This is a result of the defective public transportation and town planning infrastructure. The only public transportation that is used is the bus that has really few lines active and a very sparse program. In addition, there are no any pedestrian pathways or bicycle routs to use. So, people are forced to use cars, in some way... As we all know, cars produce CO2 and they are really unfriendly to the environment. If town planning can't help, then there are some other ways to improve the environment. Friendly and sustainable sources should be used. Renewable energies is the key to that! Cyprus is a country that approximately 85% of the year is sunny. We should take advantage of that. Fortunately, new laws appear each year that support the use of solar energy (photovoltaic panels). The point is to use it in each house individually so they will produce electricity. Electricity is a really important source for houses and people. This is what most cars should use as a ''fuel''. Electric cars should be a must since they produce less pollution and they are really effective in everyday life.
