I travel from home to work and back by car and it takes about 15-20 minutes depending on traffic. Travelling by car to is the only current possible form of transportation. Cars are the most common form of transportation in Riyadh, and the only one for the moment. However, I usually walk from home to the mosque and back which is about a 5 minute walk each way, done about 3 times a day. There will be an alternative in the near future which is Riyadh metro, and there will be a supporting bus system That will cover the whole city. I think i'll happily use the metro specially if my travel time is over 30 minutes so I can make use of this time by reading or learning instead of setting in traffic. Moreover, I wish I could bike to work daily as that would be very healthy and will increase my productivity and would be better for the environment. But biking as a form of transportation in Riyadh is kind of far fetched, as the streets are not even equipped for pedestrians nor bikes, drivers are really reckless and might hit you, and the weather doesn't also help.
