1. Which are your top livability criteria? 1. Job Opportunities 2. Housing 3. Safety 4. Transportation 5. Infrastructure 2. Why do we live where we live? My name is Shriya Venkatesh. I am an architecture student and I study at Manipal University which is a predominantly a student town in Manipal, Karnataka, India. My mother lives in Chennai, India, which is my hometown. And I stay with her at home during my vacations. My family was born and brought up in Chennai and the reason we continue to live there is because 1)we have our roots in this city as well as most of our extended family and friends who live here. 2)Another crucial reason is ample job opportunities due to rapid urbanization of chennai into a metropolitan hub.This has helped improve the standard of living and all amenities are easily available. 3)Access to excellent healthcare facilities including many speciality hospitals for seeking medical aid. 4)There is access to good education with a variety of options for schooling as well as many reputed colleges and universities. 5)Safe and secure neighborhoods in the city are also very crucial for raising a family. 3a. If I were the mayor of my state, I would develop schemes to focus on affordable housing, development of better transport systems and road networks in order to reduce the terrible traffic congestion, and creation of job opportunities for the youth. I would also develop policies to control population growth which remains a growing problem in India. I think it is important to develop other parts of the state of Tamil Nadu in order to spread out the population and reduce pressure on the available infrastructure. 5. Why do we move? Finland 1.
