Imagine that you have set up a project wherein you would like to make use of Citizen Design Science. Which guidelines are important in creating your own Citizen Design Science project? ** Imagined Project: Towards an age-friendly urban environment, Design Area: South Kasra street and Golha Square, Karaj, Alborz Province, Iran 1. Gathering preliminary data about physical and mental weaknesses and limitations of children, and elderly people, then assuming the problems and obstacles they might face while using public places 2. Setting some goals about how to achieve a place where people of all ages can be present, use and enjoy 3. Conducting the first focus group, consisting of the local residents and shop keepers or people using the design area regularly, some city administratives, and especially the elderly 4. Explaining the goals and purpose of the project, asking the participants to express their opinion and participate in the discussion, trying to have a better understanding of citizens real demands and needs 5. Conducting the second focus group, consisting of children and teenagers between 5 to 15, asking them to explain what they like to have in the neighborhood, which they don’t , and which places they find the most and least pleasant and why. Asking them to convey their prefered imaginary urban space in a drawing. 6. Conducting guided tours including the elderly, children, teenagers, adults, and local administeratives, walking the selected street and square to directly observe the problems which make it difficult for them to be present in public places 7. Gathering datas from focus groups and guided tours, categorizing and analyzing them 8. Reviewing and modifying the goals 9. Setting objectives, policies and design, setting the policies in a way that the citizens can play a direct role in the implementation process 10. Modelling the policies in pictures and videos to be presented to the participants 11. Asking for their opinions and ideas to improve the plan 12. Monitoring the process, asking people to inform the authorities about their opinions during the project
