Livability Criteria In Juba, South Sudan 1. Which are your top livability criteria? a. Safety b. Job Opportunities c. Infrastructure d. Housing e. Transportation 2. Why do we live where we live? My place of residence is in Juba, South Sudan. I live there for various reasons; it is my default place of residence by birth. Most of my family live there as well of my friends. Juba is the largest city in the country with more amenities that can’t be found in other parts of the country. 3. To what extend does your own place of residence fulfill your ideal livability criteria? My place of residence in my hometown doesn’t fulfill my ideal livability criteria. Various predicaments are contributor to this dissatisfaction; mainly because of the outbreak of the ongoing civil war in South Sudan to the lack of infrastructures. I give my place of residence in Juba, South Sudan a scale of 15 out of 100 in fulfilling my ideal livability criteria. The city of Juba general livability score will be about 10 out of 100. 4. What would you change? I am the Mayor of Juba, improving security will be the first thing to do; without safety, nothing else matter. Second, I will implement economics measures that will create a vibrant economy of the city that provides good paying jobs to residences of the city. Third, physical infrastructure of the Juba are none existence. As a Mayor, I will ensure to connect each house with a running water, sewer, and electricity. Fourth, investing in public housing and mixed-use development are crucial to the welfare of the city. Finally, I will improve the transportation sector by adding more surfaced roads, a robust public transport system that will connect the entire city. 5. Why do we move? If I decide to change my place of residence, I will move to the following cities as the following order: a. Vancouver, Canada b. Dubai, U.A.E c. Kigali, Rwanda These cities has most of my livability criteria that enhance individual’s quality of live and contribute to fulfillment of human potential.
