The most important stocks and flows entering, staying in and eventually leaving my area are students, fireworks, and beer (Grolsch). The university currently welcomes 9,600 students, and employs over 2,900 scientists and professional support staff into the Twente region. These include over 2,000 international students from 80 different nationalities. This guarantees a constant in and out flow of students as enrol and graduate from the university. SE Fireworks was a major importer of fireworks from China and supplier to pop concerts and major festive events in the Netherlands. Initially SE Fireworks self-produced fireworks, but since 1985 the production was transferred to China. The factory authorization allowed a maximum of 158,500 kilograms of fireworks to be stored in Enschede. Today, the main Grolsch brewery is located in Enschede. Grolsch was, as of February 2006, the second largest brewer in the Netherlands (after Heineken) with annual production of 320 million litres. The domestic market comprises 51% of total production. Grolsch is the 21st largest provider of beer in the world, and is available in 70 countries. Grolsch focuses primarily on the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. These primary markets make up 78 per cent of Grolsch's international sales (by volume).
