I took the picture during a trip I had from south to north of Riyadh City, the trip was about 55 km at around 10 am, the schools were off and in a vacation, work usually starts in Riyadh from 8:00 am tell 6:00 pm, nonetheless the roads were heavily crowded with cars and the followings are some of the reasons, 1- Dependence on Personal Cars in all transit activities. 2- lack of good alternative public transportation means. 3- the need to cross long distances to reach points of interest in the city. this led to the need for having wider roads compared to other cities in Saudi Arabia, and to the attempts to have urgent solutions such as trains and metros to decrease the use of personal cars. as seen in sequence of photos from left to right the traffic jam didn't get lesser until we started going out of the city itself and the construction of the train rail is visible in the last photo where this addition to Riyadh roads will change the urban look of the city for generations to come.
