Module 3 - compulsory Exercise: Livability Criteria 1. Which are your top livability criteria? 1. Job Opportunities 2. Economy 3. Culture 4. Education 5. Housing From our patio last summer when the false sunflowers were in bloom. 2. Why do we live where we live? I live in Overland Park, Kansas, a suburb in the greater Kansas City metropolitan area in the center of the United States. We lived in the Kansas City area for 40 years. We have lived in our home for 31 years. We enjoy the area because it is (1) an affluent community with parks and other amenities, (2) it is within a metro area that provides professional sports & performing arts, (3) the economy is stable and affordable, (4) the schools (elementary, high school, university) are excellent, and (5) safe, with relatively no crime. 3. To what extend does your own place of residence fulfill your ideal livability criteria? Ideal livability of my residence: 90 (on a scale of 1-100) My residence fulfills ideal livability criteria (i.e. the top-5 criteria you selected in Question 1). Provide also a general livability: 90 (1-100). 4. What would you change? Imagine that you were the mayor of your place of residence. Which would be the first measure you would take to improve livability? I would try to bring in some mountains or oceans to improve the recreational opportunities. 5. Why do we move? Minneapolis, Minnesota – thriving city, long winters, strong economy, lakes, arts/sports Denver, Colorado – thriving city, recreation, arts/sports, strong opportunity, legalized marijuana Upstate New York – scenic, affordable, strong history/culture, recreation, weather (four seasons).
