1. Which are your top livability criteria? 1. Housing 2. Transportation 3. Safety 4. Health Care 5. Environment 2. Why do we live where we live? I live in The Hague (The Netherlands). Five reasons why I live here are: 1. Proximity of the sea and nature 2. Central location in the Randstad (which holds other major cities in Holland such as Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Utrecht) 3. Location, quality and affordability of my apartment 4. Public transportation 5. Job opportunities The picture is showing three of these aspects. 3. To what extend does your own place of residence fulfill your ideal livability criteria? Housing: 80 Transportation: 82 Safety: 76 Health care: 84 Environment: 71 General livability score: 78 4. What would you change? From my top 5 I gave the lowest score for environment, this is because the air quality isn’t that good in all areas because of cars. The problem with The Hague is that there is no ring highway and cars are often jammed in the streets. I would ban all diesel cars from the city centre and make more areas less attractive for cars. Although I will receive criticism, eventually people will find other means of transport as I will invest in the public transport network. 5. Why do we move? Paramaribo (Surinam): because of the climate, environment, culture, housing, community integration Groningen (The Netherlands): because of the housing, space, safety, cost of living and climate Utrecht (The Netherlands): because of the transportation, education, infrastructure, housing and safety
