Porto Alegre is the capital of Rio Grande do Sul state, in the very south of Brazil. It´s a wooded city mainly in the residencial areas but, as we can see in the first picture, new areas are not being wooded as before, what is creating urban heat island effects and the temperature can be 3ºC higher in those places. Unfortunately we cannot see policy makers concern about it and we can expect the same will happen in many other places. The measures I propose are: - for larger enterprises: one tree in the sidewalk for each 500 square meters builded and a public open green area adjacent his real estate development - for medium proprietary: one tree in front of its sidewalk and one tree inside his property - for small proprietary: one tree in front of its sidewalk
