As I am especially interested in the projects of urban redevelopment, my idea of a CDP would concern this area of research and practice. In every big city there are some territories that need renovation. I believe that the best way to give new life to a certain urban site is through public participation, so my idea for a Citizen Design Science project is this: let us involve active citizens in the decision-making process of the future development of a given territory. We can create a special web-site and an online platform to communicate with local community. Citizens would have the opportunities to upload their own pictures and projects showing how they see the best redevelopment of the territory, then discuss the options with each other. Municipal government would initiate and mediate the process. The best situation would be if the involved citizens represent all the potential interest and social groups of the respective area, so that all the variety of viewpoints may be taken into consideration. As a result, local residents would feel that they have made their own contribution into the final redevelopment project, and they would be ready and willing to enjoy the outcomes when the urban land is re-organized based on their propositions. I think that the following guidelines are important in creating this Citizen Design Science project: - all people should be allowed to express their vision, despite their age/ethnicity/income/education/etc; - a group of specialists must be involved who can turn the proposed solutions into realistic parts of the project; - a good informational campaign should be held before launching the website and online platform for discussions in order to attract participants; - regular reports on the progress of the discussion must be published for all of the community; -special thanks to the most active participants should be included in the reports about the realization of the project.
