The most important stocks and flows that enter, stay and leave the city of Jaipur, India are : 1. Water 2. Food and 3.People 1.Water: Due to being situated in the desert regions of Rajasthan with an omnipresent possibility of droughts, the availability of fresh water resources in the form of lakes is the most important stock of the city. To meet the huge water intake demands of the city, in addition to the flow of rain water, additional fresh water is transported from nearby reservoir called 'Bisalpur Dam' to supply the city. The water leaves the city in the form of sewage and waste water as a result of human and industrial activities. 2.Food: Huge quantities of food are imported to feed the urban population from all across the globe. This involves, i) The fresh produce of the nearby rural areas which is sold within the city. ii) The huge amount of processed goods imported from all across the globe to satisfy the voracious appetite of the urban population. This stock manifests itself in various forms such as vegetable markets and supermarkets. 3.People: Due to being a historically and culturally rich city, Jaipur is also a hub for tourists. The city has a very large flow of tourists that enter, stay and leave the city on a regular basis, each new lot replacing the other. Whereas, a stable and ever increasing portion of the local population is also ever present within the city. The major changes that could change the stocks and flows in the future would be the creation of better transportation infrastructure connecting the city which would allow for a greater flow of tourists, thus in turn leading to a greater flow of capital and other commodities such as food. The image displays the local traditional architecture responsible for attracting the tourist flow to the city.
