I live in Jaffna district which is north part of Sri Lanka, Jaffna Municipal area was declared as urban area by government where nearly 90,000 people are living. The photos taken small fishing area nearby central business district. (Commercial production per day is recorded around 3972.5 kg/Day and the average number of boats actively operated is 150.) Fish – it is a flow in this area, every day morning tons of fish come from sea and distributed to the local market and national market. Sometimes they make dry fish if they don’t have demand for fresh fish. If they get the better cold storage facility in the future they could store over production for the future demand. Drinking water – this area is not having drinking water from ground, therefore water is supplied by municipal council but not for every house and only for the limited time (only in the morning and evening) If the municipal get money they could provide continuous water supply for each house then there is no need of store the water in plastic barrel. Garbage – 160 houses put together in 8 blocks, people living in the community are less educated compare to other part of municipal area therefore lack of knowledge in solid waste management. Sometimes they burn the garbage nearby their blocks. If the people get right knowledge about the solid waste management, people themselves and environment get benefit by the human actions.
