Also, the city is a big producer of rice and beef cattle, and has the largest milk production in the state. b) Regulating services: Reforestation for pulp and paper production has been an emerging economic activity throughout the region. c) Habitat or supporting services: In the squares and parks of the city there are several species of native trees, and the prefecture encourages the planting and maintenance of these species. d) Cultural services: Pelotas has many cultural options. The historic architecture of the city is a site for visits and exhibitions. The prefecture encourages cultural actions throughout the year, including the semanal flea market and the samba in downtown. Also, the independent scene holds several cultural events and concerts that attract many studentes and residents of the city.
