1.)According to me the 5 most important criteria for livability are a.)Safety b.)Job opportunities c.)Transportation d.)Housing e.)Environment 2.)I am based in Singapore and I live here for the reasons given below •Singapore is a very safe city. •Being an urban designer it gives me good job prospects and offers a further opportunity for future research and studies in my field. •Singapore has excellent public transport and it’s dependable 24x7. The city is well connected to major cities on the planet by air. It gives unlimited opportunities for me to travel around the world and also it is close to my home town in Kerala, India (4 Hr airtime). •Singapore has a very vibrant culture embracing the east and the west. The food is great, nice people, good entertainment facilities and great recreation facilities. •The city is neat, clean and offers the best in health care facilities in terms of prevention and cure. The other contributing reasons being mild climate of the region, a stable economy and a strong currency value. 3.)My ratings for Singapore based on the livability criteria I selected would be a.)Safety-90/100 b.)Job opportunities-85/100 c.)Transportation-80/100 d.)Housing-65/100 e.)Environment-80/100 In totality considering many other criteria’s for livablity both quantitative and qualitative I would give Singapore a total score of 80/100. 4.)If I were to be the mayor of Singapore, I would initiate multiple programs to increase the community participation in planning process. I would also like to initiate many grassroots level programs to foster community bonding amongst the residents of the city. The other thing I will focus will be to reduce food wastage in Singapore and processes to bolster sustainable food creation in the city. Programs for urban farming will be another priority during my tenure as the mayor. These would be few of the agendas that I would like to address initially as the Mayor. 5.)The three cities I would like to move to would be Melbourne, Australia The city offers good Job opportunities. It is a good city for architects and urbanists to practice. The city is well connected. It rates high in education and research. The city has a vibrant culture offering great recreation facilities. Melbourne is very economically stable. Thiruvananthapuram, India The city is less crowded and peaceful, a city for retirement. Being a native the city offers me good job prospects. Housing is affordable and the city is cheap. It is a university city, it offers good educational facilities. The healthcare facilities are good and affordable. Rotterdam, Netherlands The city has good education and research facilities. The city has a rich culture offering vibrant recreational and entertainment facilities. The city is well connected and offers great public transport facilities. Healthcare facilities are good. The economy of the port city is good and slowly coming up again after the dip.
