1) Kazan, Russia 2) Saint Petersburg, Russia 3) Columbus, OH, USA 4) New York, NY, USA 5) Moscow, Russia I could hardly find 5 cities in the world that I could judge from 100% of my own experience, but I got to live in all of them at some point, so, to me, this kind of my personal ranking is the most objective. 1) I was born in Kazan, so to me the most important livability factors of this city are affordability of housing, transportation and food. Student and science structures are developed very widely in the city what makes is open to a fresh and new stream of youth vibe and discoveries, city is pretty resilient and it's infrastructure is in a constant development. The last but not the least important factor to me is a cultural heritage of the area and the city. Inhabitants are very strong in their culture and families and organic development of the city allows them to stay satisfied with conservation of their cultural and spiritual needs while science and scientific development are rising in geometric progression. 2) I got to visit Saint Petersburg for study needs at some point in my life and I can say that one of the most important factors played cultural heritage in this area. Secondly it is transportation, then economy, then climate and ecology. While there's nothing to do with climate situation of the city, ecology factor is very much possible subject to change: in my opinion, moving noise and pollution producing factories farther from the city could help. 3) Columbus seemed to me a very much alike to Kazan City - University structures are spread around the city what makes it very changeable and, more important, ready and capable to change. 4) The city where I currently live, New York, it very known for it's Flows and Stocks of tourists, finances, energy... These factors can be both - helpful and harmful for the developing of more sustainable and resilient city. New York is also known for it's 24/7 great developed transportation infrastructure. 5) I choose Moscow as a last point in my ranking to kind of oppose it to the cities listed above, except for one important factor, which is developed Great in Moscow - Transportation. Fast subway, high lines around the city and within the city really play a huge role in a Megapolis like Moscow. But this positive factor is followed by negative factors like bad ecology, high pollution level, density, and non-affordability of housing and other human needs.
