I would develop a citizen design science project around the walking paths on the University of California, Irvine's campus. Recently a series of traffic lights have been installed that are impeding pedestrian and motor vehicle traffic. I would combine observation of the walking paths with campus residents' use of an app to track their foot traffic to assess the actual patterns of use. I would then host a town hall meeting to analyze the data and allow for residents to voice their ideas for solutions to the traffic issues, before presenting this data to campus planners.
