Module 9 - Compulsory Exercise 5 I currently work from home in the uk, so I have done the exercise for when I previously worked in Paris. There was just one route to the office. Walking:- 7 minutes This was how I got to work The office was a short walk from where I lived. Although the footpaths were busy in the morning it was still a very pleasant walk, picturesque with lovely old buildings and small interesting shops and cafes. It make me feel happy walking to work. Sometimes there would be traffic jams on my way to work so it was much faster than going by car. The climate was fairly mild and walking is a healthier way to travel. Biking:-2 minutes This mode of transport would be very quick. In Paris city bikes were available to rent on most streets with the city’s Vélib scheme. Many people used the city bike scheme to get to work, but as I was so close I was happy to walk to work. Car or motorcycle:- 2 minutes Although this method of transport is very quick in the morning there maybe delays due to traffic jams. Also there was little parking for cars. Mopeds or motorbikes could be parked on the pavement. Apart from the problems of parking and traffic jams, with this method of transport you are unable to appreciate the atmosphere of the area.
