Compulsory Exercise 5 Refer to attached sketch of routes and information for possible modes of transportation from home to work Use of the two alternate transport modes is fairly evenly split. Use of the car is convenient and desirable (increases happiness) if: - the weather is inclement - I need to arrive at a time the bus is unavailable - I need to use the car for work during the day - I need to shop or run errands on the way to/from work NOTE: the trip TO work rarely involves traffic and is quite quick. The trip home FROM work can be affected by heavy traffic and can become very frustrating. Use of the bus is convenient and desirable (increasing happiness) if: - there is traffic congestion (which the bus avoids by using a dedicated transit lane) - I want to purchase coffee from the café on the way to work - I do not need the car for any other purpose during the day NOTE: the trip TO work on the bus is quiet and peaceful with only a few passengers at the time I travel. The trip home FROM work on the bus can be crowded and noisy, affecting general happiness.
