Which are your top livability criteria? 1. Job opportunities 2. Housing 3. Health Care 4. Recreation possibilities 5. Culture Why do we live where we live? San Francisco, California 1. Economy / Job opportunities. Silicon Valley has a strong economy and provides lots of jobs, not only in high tech. 2. Climate / Recreation possibilities: The Bay Area has a mild but warm Mediterranean climate, there is a short rainy season. If you want to see snow, Lake Tahoe is a 3 hr drive away. There are many national and state parks for hiking. 3. Culture / international connectivity: Due to its diverse population, there is an abundance of cultural opportunities here. 4. Environment: California is a very environmentally-friendly state. 5. Health care: The standard of health care is very high here. To what extend does your own place of residence fulfill your ideal livability criteria? 1. Job opportunities: 20% 2. Housing: 0% 3. Health Care: 20% 4. Recreation possibilities: 20% 5. Culture: 20% On a scale of 1-100, San Francisco fulfills my ideal livability criteria with a score of 80% due to the high costs of housing. I expect that a general livability score for San Francisco would be somewhere between 70 - 80% due to the fact that housing int eh city is almost not affordable for the middle class, and transportation is in a bad condition. There are a lot of homeless people and drug addicts in specific neighborhoods that make safety a big issue. What would you change? Improve transportation, set a toll for private cars in the downtown area, reduce parking lots, increase the amount of bus and tram lines, create pedestrian only streets, ... decrease the costs for housing and health insurance, provide a fixed percentage of social housing for new construction projects, reform the tenant laws and rental agreement conditions, ... Why do we move? 1. Tel Aviv 2. Barcelona 3. San Diego Reasons: 1. Culture 2. Climate 3. Housing 4. International connectivity 5. Recreation possibilities
