Antwerp is an harbour city. It’s right this soul that makes the city rich and strong during the centuries. Several kind of products and goods are delivered to and from Antwerp all over the world. What the city is strongly asking, and actually can easily obtain thanks to a very efficient net of infrastructures, is gasoline and oils products. We can sum up the stock and flow of this products connected with the city of Antwerp in this way: 1. FLOW _ input raw gas and oil products usually by a very intense flow of cargo ship ( that obviously brings many other secondary goods ) 2. STOCK _ infrastructures for work the raw materials such as rafinery, but also pipelines structures in order to, for example, send the gas to warm up the city during the cold and long winter months. The picture I’m showing is exactly an old fashionable pipeline to prove the long and strong connection of this kind of activity with the city life 3. FLOW _ output of all the waste products created by the rafinery of raw products, this create also a strong economical opportunities for several secondary enterprise If we consider this Stocks and Flows process born to produce energy we can also think that in the future with the highly possible lack of raw materials ( or its more expensive purchase ) the single family will try, thanks to new technologies, to produce their own energetic needs. Maybe one day no one cities will need anymore such a big and so specific structurized areas for gas and oils products.
