I think it would be worthwhile to start a project wherein citizens can help developers create a better public transit system in my hometown. Nearly everyone has a mobile phone device that has a global positioning system installed, and so participation would be relatively easy. People would merely allow the researchers to track their movements through the city to discover the most widely used pathways, and then ensure that there is a means by which they can use them without having to drive their own vehicles. I have mentioned before how little the public transit system is used here in my city, and I think that if it was actually taking people the places where they need to be, it would cut down significantly on the amount of emissions we are putting up into the atmosphere. It may be difficult to convince people the information is being used beneficially, however.
