Porte Alegre is now essentially a commercial city, there are no more rural areas in the city. So, all the food that the population consumes comes from outside. Also for the same reason, many people are just working here, instead of living. These two flow examples are the causes of an intense vehicle traffic that translates into pollution and stress to the people. Porto Alegre does not have a good public transportation that brings too much jam and noise from the streets. So, it's a waste of many places that could be used as homes for living, especially to the people who eat every day for work reasons. This example shows a cycle between 'stocks and flows' concept. What if we could manage to bring back the cultive of food to Porto Alegre? This unique action could reduce the traffic in the streets, reduce the stress of the people and make available more places to live in the city. One option for that is the cultivation in the green roofs.
