Elderly is an old folk very near me in San Rafael, CA. Old folks home a great for the community and are a good example of stocks and flows. They come into it knowing the way they are going to leave and staying there until then, Stocks being a number of people and flows being people coming in and out. I don’t know how it will change in the future besides maybe expanding but does benefit the area. Having old folks homes give opportunities for the area such as; bring people together, social gatherings, guest volunteering and opening of jobs, and the ability for “Adopt” a family to let these people become part of your family. Recycling centers are also a good example of a beneficial addition to an area as well as a good example of stocks and flows. In terms of stocks and flows, they keep of recycling that is stored there that can not be dealt with at that time, while there is trash being moved in the be recycled and dealt with accordingly if it is for reusing, getting rid of, or shipping it off for companies to use. Having recycling centers is good for the community in the way that it saves the environment by not burning trash or putting it in a landfill, people can repurpose it into new good. As Well as schools in the area can take tours of the center and learn all about recycling and the 3 r’s. Last but not least the food bank. Among the three I have chosen, this is most likely the best for the community and for the people. Food banks have stocks of food waiting to be used and has a near constant flow of food coming and going from the center. Food banks opening up is a benefit and more should be opening up in the future. The good it does for the area could be, stores give the food they can no longer have on the shelves so they can process it and the food they can sell, they do for low prices at the food back or are sent to a homeless shelter to be given away there. People aswell can bring their own food in and give it to the food bank. People can come in and volunteer to separate and bag or box the food to be put on shelves for low-income families to buy for much less. Picture from: http://www.allsep-planning.com/projects/
