In my opinion the definition for livable cities is different according to the person, the place and the time. In my opinion top 5-criteria that contribute the most to a city's livability are: climat, enviroment, economy, education and job opportunity. My home place is Berkovitsa. It is a small city in north-west Bulgaria. The climate here is continental-really appropriate for living. The small size of the city is the reason to reach anywhere very quickly. The problem here is bad economy and high unemployment. The area around the city is ideal for winter sports, but it is not developed. If I have the opportunity to change something here, it will be to find a way to develop tourism in the city and this would create new and more workplaces for the locals. Another good thing is that Berkovitsa is really close to the capital of Bulgaria-Sofia, which is 80km. from here. The main reason people move from one place to another is that they do not have job opportunity. Here is the same with me. I study architecture in Sofia and maybe later I will work there, but weekends I spend in Berovitsa. I hope that after graduation I will be able to work to create a favorable living environment in Berkovitsa.
