Based on my experience I can only list four cities. The first two are the more liveable as far as I am concerned. Madrid Cancun Miami Mexico City Madrid is a very nice and comfortable city to live in. It has good international connectivity for this reason is an important for local and international tourism. Compare to other European cities it has good weather year round. Nice hot summers and cool winters. Like most capital cities it has heavy rush hours thus traffic can get heavy in certain hours and certain areas of the city. Madrid is a walkable city and the public transportation system is excellent. In the current political climate Security is an important factor. Culture is a big asset to make this city liveable. Cancun. - Surrounded by low jungle and the ocean it offers high quality life. The international airport receives flights from all over the world, making it the most important Tourist Resorts in the Caribbean. The weather is very pleasant year round. Good hotel infrastructure. Security is acceptable. History, Culture, Natural environment, peaceful are facts that add to making this city liveable. To change Cancun into a sustainable city many things have to change: 1) Stop increasing the number of rooms and hotels. 2) Respect the Natural environment 3) Stop taking decisions based on economic reasons. The social and ecological factors are important too. To be able to reach sustainability there has to be a balance between the three. 4) Make public transportation efficient. 5) The city and the hotel zone need to be walkable. 6) Increase security in town. 7) Refurbish parks and make more recreational areas. 8) Stop polluting the lagoon.
