I'll show three examples of stocks and flows in Budapest. The first is related to tourism: the increasing number of tourists are the flows, and the sights or the "ruin pubs" are the stocks. The second example is higher education: the universities and colleges, and their infrastructure are the stocks. Students from Hungary and all over the world coming to Budapest mean the flows. In the Socialist Era African or Asian exchange students came to Hungary from mostly other Socialist states, and many of them stayed. This is still visible e.g. in healthcare, as these people seem to be overrepresented among doctors. The third flow is workers, and the stocks are the workplaces in Budapest and the agglomeration.
