This photograph was taken in Fikirtepe, a squatter house district of Istanbul, where the "urban transformation" is at its wildest. With the post-earthquake "urban transformation" law behind it, and accompanied with no infrastructure work; the construction wave will leave the area full of high-rises which will consume more resources than there's available. Although Turkey is a major cement producer among other construction materials, it is still a huge importer of materials, especially finishing materials and machinery. One extra aspect of "urban transformation" in Turkey is that, with the economic crisis, almost all capital flow nearly came to a halt, except for construction; which is being used to keep the country's economy afloat with its head above water.
