HYDERABAD, CHANDIGARH, PUNE, LUCKNOW, KOLKATA 2. a) EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES - A city should provide varied employment opportunities to retain and attract people. b) HEALTH AND EDUCATION FACILITIES - Health and education are foremost for all round growth and development of the city residents and subsequently the sound growth of the city. A well nurtured body and mind can contribute positively towards the development and maintenance of the city. c) SAFETY FROM CRIME - It is very important that people feel safe and secure in a city otherwise given the first opportunity most of them will leave and choose an alternative place to settle down. d) COST OF LIVING - The cost of living should be commensurate with the earning capacity of the people. e) NEAT AND CLEAN ENVIRONMENT - The city should provide a pollution free environment with ample natural places, parks, etc, to relax and rejuvenate and help people lead a stress free and healthy life. f) INTER AND INTRA-CITY CONNECTIVITY - This is an extension of the fifth point. Good public transportation can help reduce carbon emissions and keep the city environment clean. Connectivity with other cities nationally and internationally can foster easy mobility of people and goods and enhance business, trade and commerce, investments, etc. further promoting accelerated growth of the city. 3. My city CHANDIGARH has excellent health and education facilities and lately been ranked as the cleanest city of India. Chandigarh however needs to work upon providing more job opportunities, improving the public transportation facilities to reduce congestion on roads and air and noise pollution, upgrading inter-city connectivity and preserving its naturalness and peripheries to make it more sustainable and a world-class city.
